Packing up my weekend & looking forward to the next. These days I’ve started a count down for everything: my next trip home, the number of classes I have left and the day my next paycheck comes. But unpacking my @boden_clothing#gifted today had me thinking. What will I do with my time until ________ happens/comes or ______ ends/begins? It’s so vital that we give purpose to the moments we want to pass quickly. The countdown to summer, To a new chapter, A new place, A new title, A vacation, The end of a long fought battle, A cure, An answer, etc. We’re all expecting something — waiting for something. Often times we can find ourselves wishing away our current situations - our current struggles or just the mundane moments of everyday life wishing for something greater. And all of that can be justified entirely. But — in both the good and the bad, we must push forward having hope for the future, all the while staying present in the here and now. These joys were meant for today. These struggles were meant for today. These moments - both casual and colossal - were meant for today. One day you’ll be there. You’ll may the things you once wished for. The things you’ve waited for. The answer you’ve hoped for. But know that today is also a day you’ve prayed for. You’ve hoped for. You’ve worked for. What you have, know, do, love today is because of your yesterday and all the days prior. We hold on for the next weekend, our big break or the dreams we’ve always dreamed, but we give purpose to now. We give reason to now. And we give thanks for now. Because we aren’t promised tomorrow. Today is all we’ve got.
