to Be Skinny

Sometimes I’d give anything to be skinny. Yes, those feelings still exist. And it’s probably a thought I think at least once a day. Heck, especially in the summer. Insecurity runs rampant this time of year. It feels like everywhere I go & everything I do is an insecurity trap. Getting dressed in the morning, sitting on the train, going to school/work, going to the pool, RSVPing to a party, heading off on vacation, scrolling on Instagram.... I’ve been trained my ENTIRE life to think poorly about my body (we all have!!!!) AND ESPECIALLY during the summer. Y’ALL these thoughts of insecurity LIVE in my brain DAILY. And ya know what - It’s 10092363839% normal. Is it right? Heck no. Battling these thoughts all the time are exhausting. I’d be so much easier to give in. And that’s why so many people do. It’s why on my weakest days, I do too. We have between 60,000-80,000 thoughts a day. A DAY. AKA: We have 60,000-80,000 chances a day to think good things - about ourselves & others. If you ask me, that’s a heck of a lot of opportunity to succeed. When it comes to our thoughts, we don’t run out of second changes. We can always improve. We can always change. We can always try again. Philippians 4:8 - “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think about such things.” Have you been hard on yourself this morning/today? Have you thought something you know isn’t right? Have you slipped back into old ways of thinking? Oh, phew. Good. You’re human. Give yourself the grace to keep moving forward. This next thought - it’s yours. Tackle it with all the love, generosity and kindness in the world. If you need help getting started, think about puppies. That always seems to do the trick. 💗
