A reflection is mere imagination if you can’t see the truth. If you see through the lens of lies or losses, you’ll never see what’s really there. What you see is made up - what you’re told to see - what you’re led to believe. But when you take off the lens of what you think you are - what you think you’ll see - maybe you’ll finally be able to recognize the light. The light that shines both inwards and out. A light that reflects a figure of worth and respect. A blurry imagine that fails to depict what’s really all there - often missing narration to the whys and who - the here and the nows. Ya see the thing with reflections is that we all see them differently. Like the shape of a cloud or the roll of a dice...we see what we’re looking for - in our lives - in our reflections. We hope for different outcomes, figures or stats - unsure of what we’ll see - all the while knowing we’re looking for something specific - yet something unique. What we’ve taught ourselves to look for - what we’re told to believe - is that one shape or outline defines you and me. But I beg to differ - that that’s not the case. You’ll see what you think until you see what you know. I am strong, beautiful, well-liked & worthy. Loved, known, friendly & caring, Filled with purpose, Spoken of highly, A dreamer, a doer, an achiever of big things. A lover, a shelter And everything in-between. The light that you see - the shadows too - draw a picture of someone who knows who she is and sees what she is. Not the outlines of lies. Not the shapes of failures. Not the shading of doubt. Say it with me: I define the light I cast, not the darkness And definitely not anyone else.
